Mansfield University's Cahsid Raymond named Collegiate Sprint Football League MVP
MANSFIELD, P.A. (WENY) - Mansfield University's Cahsid Raymond has been named Collegiate Sprint Football League MVP.
This comes shortly after Raymond was named CSFL Offensive Player of the Year last week and he was an All-CSFL First-Team selection.
Raymond was known as the Swiss army knife for Mansfield's offense, recording 604 rushing yards and nine touchdowns on the ground which ranked third in the league and 386 receiving yards which ranked fifth. Cahsid is also Mansfield's all-time leader in career passing touchdowns, he threw seven this season with 686 passing yards. Raymond led the CSFL in all-purpose yards with 1,159.
It means a lot, I've been really focused on trying to get that award," Raymond said. "More, I wanted to win a championship for my team but things don't always come out that way, but I'm really excited."
After Raymond played such a crucial part for the Mountaineers the last few seasons, Head Coach Johns Evans spoke about what the MVP award means for the program.
"It's special, I always said that certain players come around only once or twice in a coach's lifetime and Cahsid is obviously one of them, and the big thing to me is it was a unanimous vote, all eight head coaches in the league," Evans said. "Nobody else voted for anyone else so it was a done deal, it was a sure thing. So it was exciting."
Mansfield finished this season 3-1 in conference play as Raymond led the Mountaineers to back-to-back wins to end the year.
