HORSEHEADS, N.Y. (WENY) -- A benefit was held to help support the medical care of Chemung County Investigator Michael Theetge at the Horseheads Elks Lodge on Saturday night.

Hundreds of people ought tickets to the event, which was hosted by the Chemung County Deputy Sheriff's Association.  There was live music, basket drawings with a variety of prizes, raffles, and more, aiming to raise money for the Theetge Family.

Money raised at Saturday night's event will go towards an upcoming treatment in New York City for Theetge, as well as helping with travel expenses for the treatment.

"It's an awesome feeling, seeing everybody behind Mike, and then you know the guys at work rallying behind Mike. It really shows the amount of community support, and how much the community actually loves their law enforcement," said David Buchholz, the Chemung County Deputy Sheriff's Association Vice President.

Organizers say they want to thank the local businesses and community members who have donated their time, money and resources to make the event possible.
