Woman injured after falling from modified golf cart in Chemung, driver arrested
UPDATE FROM 10:45 A.M. ON 12/03/2024: The Chemung County Sheriff's Office arrested 25-year-old Joshua J. Davidson for allegedly driving a modified golf cart while intoxicated on November 27th.
According to police, they responded to a serious accident on Wyncoop Creek Rd. in the town of Chemung around 10:40 p.m. on Nov. 27th. Authorities said the incident involved a golf cart that had been modified to operate at higher-than-normal speeds.
Police said Davidson was driving illegally when the female passenger fell off, hitting her head and causing serious injury. Officials said neither person was wearing a helmet or seatbelt.
The woman who fell from the golf cart was taken to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA where police say she remains in serious but stable condition.
CHEMUNG COUNTY, NY (WENY) -- Wyncoop Creek Road is closed due to a golf cart accident that resulted in traumatic injuries, according to initial reports from authorities.
A WENY News reporter at the scene confirmed that emergency crews, including firefighters, EMS, and police, were all on site around midnight.
The road is shut down in both directions from the race track area to Rotary Road, so it's recommended to find another route when traveling.
At this time, the cause of the accident is still unclear or how many people were involved.
