STEUBEN COUNTY, NY (WENY) -- Thanksgiving is less than a day away and one local group is once again giving out dinners. The co-owners of Fran's Landing and Act-N-Do teamed up 14 years ago to make sure people have hot traditional meals for the holiday.

"So 14 years ago, Kevin (co-owner of Fran's Landing) had a dream that there would be a Thanksgiving outreach in our area, something different [with] home-delivered meals. Over the years it has grown [and evolved.] Now, we do a lot of pickup dinners as well as the home-delivered meals, and people like having the meal in their home," said Troy Preston, the co-owner of Fran's Landing and Act-N-Do coordinator.

When this Thanksgiving outreach first started, they gave away about 100 meals. This year, they're giving away over 700 to all kinds of people in the community, not just those in need.

"It’s nice that we’re not only helping all those in need, we’re helping people [who] are alone, veterans, people [who] are ill, some families [who] just can't be together [because] people live too far. Then there [are} families [who] want to be together and they really need us to help out," said Vice President of Act-N-Do, Deborah Finamore-Flint.

Unfortunately because Act-N-Do is handing out and delivering hundreds, they can't take any more orders for this Thanksgiving. Organizers said this wouldn't be possible without the help of its volunteers.

"It’s just a reminder that we’re all in this together and we are a community. Although there are differences in political beliefs, religions, whatever it may be, at the end of the day, we’re all people who care about one another and [will] come together to support one another," said Preston.

Finamore-Flint added, "It just warms our heart. We love what we do. Every year, it's getting bigger and bigger. We're very proud..."

Even though Thanksgiving will be over in a day, Act-N-Do will continue its giving back to the community. Act-N-Do is asking people to consider donating unused and unwrapped toys for kids in need in the Addison community. People can drop off toys at locations like Fran's Landing, Addison schools, and banks in the Addison community.

Applications will be accepted through December 11th. Click here to apply.
