ITHACA, N.Y. (WENY) -- Local and state officials came together with the Ithaca Housing Authority for the ribbon cutting of the 82-unit Northside Apartments in Ithaca on Tuesday, Nov. 19th. Along with the ribbon cutting, guests were given tours of the $75 million apartment complex.

We stand here today, nearly the end of 2024, that's many many years of work, but to see what we've built and to know that it will be here and be available for family members and the community for years to come, it just speaks volume to the commitment," said Brenda Westfall, executive director for the Ithaca Housing Authority.

According to the Ithaca Housing Authority, no tenant will pay more than 30 percent of their income towards rent and utilities. On top of that, all families at or below 60 percent of area median income are eligible to apply for an apartment. It's worth noting that while many residents have already moved in, officials say there are still units available.

"The amount of community support, and the number of years that it took to get this project to the finish line is just pretty amazing, today I think signifies a lot of people who believed in this project," said Westfall.
