HORSEHEADS, N.Y. (WENY) -- It was an action packed weekend at the Arnot Event Center in Horseheads for the 10th Annual Twin Tiers Comic-Con. Hundreds of pop culture lovers from all over gathered to enjoy what industry professionals, cosplayers, creators, artists, and more had to offer.

Page One Entertainment is a local event planning organization here in the region that runs Twin Tiers Comic-Con each year and aims to give back to the community and continue making it more exciting for guests.

"Pop culture provides something we need in terms of a lighthearted way to get together, have a good time with like-minded people, and it really provides an avenue for a lot of artists and creators to get their work out there, and that's something we're proud of," said Michael Royle, one of the organizers and co-owners of Page One Entertainment.

According to Doyle, over 150 artists and vendors were able to showcase their creations to attendees this weekend.

Some organizers, vendors, and guests say a larger scale pop culture event isn't as accessible so, having one here in the region is easy and fun for all.

"It's a great opportunity and it's right here in their backyard," said Jared Aiosa, a vendor at the convention and the owner of Heroes Comic Shop in Elmira Heights. "So, you know, it's here in the Arnot Mall but we've talked to people that have traveled two, three, four hours away to be here. So it's something that the whole team at Page One Entertainment have worked year round, you know, they do 2023 and they go right back to work for 2024."

Every year, Twin Tiers Comic-Con is held on Veteran's Day weekend. So, all veterans and active duty military get in for free. Royle says they do this to give back to veterans and show their appreciation.

For people of all ages, there was something to do. Guests were able to speak to industry professionals, attend a wide variety of panels, enter trivia and cosplay contests, meet celebrity guests, and so much more.

Attendees were able to partake in things they enjoy as well as be exposed to new things, finding a sense of community in all forms of pop culture.

"I'd come out if you really love anime, if you love manga, cartoons, any Marvel, it's all here," said Janessa, one attendee dressed as Valentino from Hazbin Hotel who came with friends Atlas and Hailie. "There's everything, it's a little bit of everything."

The three friends were just a few of many attendees who say they are already gearing up to come to Twin Tiers Comic Con again next year.

Royle says some of the events proceeds will go to Hero Initiative, a nonprofit that helps comic creators with funds for emergency medical aid, support for essentials of life, assistance getting back into paying work, and more.

As this is the 10th year of the convention, it expanded into the Arnot Mall itself with lightsaber demonstrations, a panel room, and more. Royle also added that this is part of the goal to keep getting bigger and better as the years go on.
