Large Brush Fire in Lansing Under Control, NYSP Investigating

UPDATE: The brush fire in Lansing that sparked Friday night is now largely under control, according to the Tompkins County Department of Emergency Response. Crews are still working on putting out a few hot spots.
The blaze initially started as smaller fires but were fanned by wind and dry conditions into one large fire. Officials say the area impacted by the fires we about eight to ten acres in size, and did not threaten any houses.
One firefighter was taken to the hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries. Two other responders were treated for injuries at the scene.
East Shore Drive was closed from Route 13 to Oakcrest Drive while fire fighters responded to the scene. A portion of Cayuga Heights Road was also closed.
The Department of Emergency Response says New York State Police are investigating what started the blaze.
LANSING, NY (WENY) -- Multiple fire crews are on scene of a series of brush fires along East Shore Drive in Lansing.
Calls for the brush fires first came in around 7:30PM Friday. According to Tompkins County Emergency Response, East Shore Drive is completely shut down from the city line to Cayuga Heights Road, as fire crews work to get the flames under control.
Fire departments from across Tompkins County and beyond have been called to the scene.
