Assistance available from FEMA for homeowners with flood damaged furnaces
NORTHERN TIER, Pa (WENY) -- The weather is starting to get colder, and FEMA is urging Northern Tier residents to check their furnaces. If a furnace was damaged a result of the flooding left behind by Debby, FEMA may be able to offer help to repair or replace it.
"For anybody out there who was impacted by Tropical Storm Debby, and maybe they received damage as a result of the storm and their insurance didn't cover it. You know, furnace is a great example of that. There is a chance FEMA could offer assistance. So reach out to us, let us know what was damaged, let us know your insurance situation. There's a possibility we could help you out," said Trey Paul from FEMA.
If your furnace isn’t working and it isn’t covered by your insurance, you may be eligible to receive help from FEMA to repair or even replace it. When you apply for assistance, be sure to indicate the furnace and other essential electrical appliances damaged during the summertime disaster. If you have already repaired or replaced the furnace, be prepared to provide FEMA with valid estimates or receipts.
Go to www.DisasterAssistance.gov to apply, or visit the Westfield Disaster Recovery Center. The deadline to apply is November 12th.
