(WENY) -- November 11th is Veterans Day - a federal holiday to honor military veterans of all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces. Several events are being held across the Twin Tiers to honor veterans in the community, and businesses from mom and pop shops across the region and nationwide are offering discounts and promotions to veterans.

EVENTS:

NOVEMBER 7: 21st annual Veterans Day Celebration at Ithaca College, 12PM. Guest Speaker: Timothy Fairchild, Vice Commander of the American Legion Post 42, and Air Force veteran. Event takes place at Ford Hall; reception to follow in McHenry lobby.

NOVEMBER 7: 4th annual Veterans Day Salute at Laurentide Beer Company, Penn Yan. Wines served by Bravery Wines, made by Air Force veteran Corey Christman. Music by Frankie Wheeler on November 7, 5-8PM, November 9, 1-4PM & 5-8PM, and November 10 from 5PM - 8PM with special guest Kenny Ende. 

NOVEMBER 8: GST BOCES Bush Campus will host a Veterans Day event 459 Philo Road, Elmira. Veterans and active military personnel will line u their vehicles at the Fresh Start Church parking lot at noon, then proceed to the GST BOCES campus, where they will be greeted by students and staff for a drive-by parade. Veterans will also receive a take-out lunch.

NOVEMBER 9: Pancake breakfast at the Corning American Legion, 8 River Road, from 9:30AM - 1:30PM

NOVEMBER 10: Horseheads United Methodist Church's Sunday Worship Celebration to honor all veterans at 9:30 a.m. A coffee hour will follow the service.

NOVEMBER 11: VFW Post 1371 in Owego will host a veterans day event, inviting veterans of all wars to share stories. Event begins at 11AM, with lunch to follow. 

NOVEMBER 11: Veterans day event at the Corning American Legion, 8 River Road from 12PM - 5PM. Food, raffles, music with Diana and The Crew. Steak raffle at 4PM.

Corning Museum of Glass Veteran's Glassworking Experience: free one-hour glassmaking experience on November 9-10 for veterans and active military. Must register by November 4 by emailing [email protected].

Rockwell Museum, Corning: Free admission for veterans

War Horse Brewing Company, Geneva: Free flight at any of the fours tasting rooms at Three Brothers Wineries and Estates on November 10 & 11.

Glenn H. Curtiss Museum, Hammondsport: $5 admission for veterans

Pizza Hut, 299 S. Main St., Elmira: By and large pizza and get a free 1-topping medium pizza on November 11th. Carryout only. (Must show your military or government I.D. verifying your active duty or veteran status.) 

NATIONAL:

Applebee's: Veterans and active duty military receive a free meal from select menu at participating locations. Dine-in only. 

Bob Evans: Veterans and active duty military receive a free meal from a special menu of homestyle favorites. 

Buffalo Wild Wings: Veterans and active duty military get a free order of 10 boneless wings and fries on November 11. Dine-in only, valid ID required. 

Chili's: Free meal for veterans and active military from a select menu on November 11 at participating locations. Military ID required. 

Dunkin Donuts: Free donut to all active military and veterans.

Outback Steakhouse: 10% Heroes Discount to all veterans, active military and first responders and medical professionals with valid ID. 

Red Robin: Free Red's Big Tavern Burger for veterans and active duty military on November 11.

Starbucks: Free tall (12oz) hot or ice brewed coffee for veterans, active duty military and spouses at participating stores.
