(WENY) -- Wegmans Food Markets will kick off its 2024 Check Out Hunger Campaign on Wednesday, October 23rd. The program, running through November 30th, allows shoppers at any Wegmans location to donate $2, $3, or $4 at checkout.

According to Feeding America, 47 million people in the United States are food insecure. The Check Out Hunger Campaign donates 100% of its proceeds to local Feeding America food banks. Locally, that money will go towards the Food Bank of the Southern Tier. 

Participating Wegmans in the Southern Tier include the stores in Corning, Elmira, Hornell, Ithaca and Johnson City. 

Over the last 30 years, the campaign has raised more than $52 million for the cause.
