CPP's 38th Annual Bandtoberfest packs the stands
CORNING, N.Y. (WENY) -- People packed the stadium at Corning-Painted Post High School on Saturday for the 38th Annual Bandtober Fest.
High schools from around the Twin Tiers showed out to give the community a taste bands from across the region. Athens, CPP, Wellsboro, Elmira, Williamson, and Mansfield University all performed.
Rather than being a competition, organizers say the night was about the love of band, and sharing that love with the community.
"A lot of times, the bands are out there supporting the sports teams and they love doing so, but the community never gets a chance to see all these bands together. So, to see the unity that these bands can form by performing together, and all the appreciation that the crowd can give those bands for the hundreds of hours of works that they put in, is really meaningful," said Joe Stork, the CPP Band Director.
The proceeds from the tickets go towards helping CPP's Band Boosters, to help the band perform at their highest level and with equipment and financial aid.
