CHEMUNG COUNTY, N.Y. (WENY) -- The Chemung County Legislature will soon decide on a new local law that would crackdown on "sticker stores" that sell or indirectly sell marijuana and other related items.
If approved, it would give power to the county executive, the sheriff's office, and the health department to inspect and shut down business that are not in compliance with the New York State Office of Cannabis Management. The law would also give county officials the power to levy fines against non-compliant businesses. The new local law would go into effect immediately if approved.
The Chemung County Legislature is scheduled to decide on the proposal Tuesday night 10/15.
