Tompkins County advocating for flu vaccination in the community

TOMPKINS COUNTY, N.Y. (WENY) -- Tompkins County is launching a new community campaign in an attempt to get as many people vaccinated for the flu as possible.
The program is called, "Say Boo to the Flu," and Tompkins County Whole Health says that vaccinations are the best way to protect yourself and the people you love from the flu.
While it doesn't guarantee you wont catch the flu, it can decrease the severity of symptoms and help keep you out of the hospital, especially if you are very young, old, or dealing with chronic health issues.
It is being recommended that everyone 6 months and older get a flu shot this Fall. To get a flu shot, check with your local pharmacy or check with your healthcare provider.
