Local effort to support hurricane relief in the South

(WENY) -- In the wake of Hurricane Helene and the looming threat of Milton, local groups are banding together to donate resources to those affected in the South.
Advanced Drainage Systems in Waverly is collecting donations to fill a tractor trailer to bring much needed supplies for those affected by Helene. They are looking for things like flashlights, batteries, and cleaning supplies to fill up the truck. The truck is leaving Waverly at noon on Saturday.
Families Helping Families is organizing a fill the trucks event in Watkins Glen. They are collecting donations at the Watkins Glen Community Center on October 10th to send to Tennessee. They are looking for non perishable items, as well as household items. The items will go towards those affected by Hurricane Helene.
