HALLOWEEN SAFETY TIPS
COSTUMES:
- Make sure masks or wigs don't obstruct vision
- Only wear FDA approved makeup, and test in advance to avoid an allergic reaction
- Don't wear decorative colored contacts, to avoid risk of eye injury
- Do wear colorful and reflective costumes, or add reflective tape to be more visible in low light
- Avoid long customs that could be a trip hazard
TRICK-OR-TREATING:
- Young kids should always be accompanied by an adult
- Older kids should travel in groups, not alone
- Use a flash light or glow stick while trick-or-treating
- Only go to homes that have a porch light on
- Never go inside a stranger's home
- Stay away from candles or source of flame
- Always use sidewalks, and use crosswalks when crossing the street
- Trick-or-Treat on well-lit streets
- Drivers should always look out for trick-or-treaters
CANDY:
- Check all candy when back home to make sure they're sealed before eating
- Throw away any candy with a torn wrapper or holes in the package
- Check ingredient labels to avoid allergens
- Avoid giving young children hard candy or candies that could pose a choking hazard
