ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) - The Elmira Aviators are gearing up for their inaugural season at the LECOM Event Center. Ahead of the regular season, the team hosted their NA3HL affiliate, the Binghamton Buzz for an exhibition match-up.

The NAHL is a part of the USA Hockey National Junior Development Model which works closely with the NCAA, USHL and the NHL. The league plays a key role in the development of young hockey players from around the world and players ages range from ages 16-20 years old.

"Extremely excited", said Conway, New Hampshire native and forward Bryce Terry. "Speaking on behalf of my teammates and I, it's an absolute privilege and honor to be here and wear the Elmira Aviators logo on our chests. To whom much is given, much is expected. We're given all these resources, all these amazing amenities, and we hold each other accountable and expect a lot from each other to be involved in the community, give back to the people that have given to us and that's something that's really important to us."

The Aviators team is made up of players from across North America-- from Alberta, Canada to Texas. The players are living in the dorms at Elmira College for the season, where they'll have access to the dining hall and other places on EC's campus.

"It's a dream come true, I'm blessed", said Harrisburg, Pennsylvania native and defenseman Brenden Bedorf. "To do the thing I love everyday, not a lot of people can say they do that and just super excited for this year. I hope we get good fans and a good crowd and hopefully we win some games. If we win, the whole town wins, everyone wins. Hopefully we have an exciting year."

The Aviators kick off the regular season on September 13th as they travel to take on the Danbury Hat Tricks. They have their season home opener almost a month later, on October 4th and 5th vs. the New Hampshire Mountain Kings. For the Aviators full regular season schedule, click here.
