Hardinge Inc's Horseheads Facility decides to keep the Super-Precision Unit
HORSEHEADS, N.Y. (WENY)-- Hardinge Inc. has taken back their decision to close its Super-Precision Unit in Horseheads. This will allow over 30 workers to keep their jobs at the facility.
According to documentation from the New York State Department of Labor Website, Hardinge was able to get enough funding to keep the unit open. It is currently unknown where the money came from.
The funding comes after the company filed a Warn Notice earlier this month, stating that 31 workers with the Super-Precision Unit could lose their jobs on August 9th, 2024. According to the Warn Notice the reason for the closure was listed as bankruptcy.
After filing the Warn Notice, company representatives told WENY News that they were still trying to find a way to keep the unit open, and exhausting all avenues to prevent the layoffs.
