Parole Denied a 7th Time for Joshua Horein
WATKINS GLEN, NY (WENY) -- A Schuyler County man serving time in prison for the murder of a Watkins Glen teenager in the year 2000 will remain behind bars.
The New York State Parole Board has once again denied parole for Joshua Horein, according to Schuyler County District Attorney Joe Fazzary.
Horein, who is now 40 years old, was 16 when he killed his classmate, 15-year-old Amber Brockway in Watkins Glen. Brockway was found beaten to death in an abandoned building near Seneca Lake on August 5, 2000.
Horein pleaded guilty to second degree murder in April of 2001, and sentenced to 20 years to life in prison. He was most recently denied parole in the spring, but was eligible for a parole hearing again in June.
With this most recent denial, he will not become eligible again until December of 2025.
