Daughters of the American Revolution celebrated our veterans at the Steuben County Fairgrounds
BATH, N.Y. (WENY) --Veterans were the center of attention at the Steuben County Fairgrounds today in a special ceremony to thank them for their service. Volunteers with the Daughters of the American Revolution came out for their annual event to celebrate our past and present veterans.
'' You could see the love on some of these veterans faces. Some of the ones are little younger that have just been out 10-20 years. It's nice that we can do this for them and I am so glad that they came,'' said Minnie Brennan, with the Daughters of the American Revolution.
The Daughters of the American Revolution is a non-political group of ladies over 18 years, who share a common bond of having direct lineage to a revolutionary war patriot.
This is the first time the event was held at the county-wide level with volunteers and veterans from all over Steuben County attending. The ceremony included sing along of our most patriotic songs, while a few of the veterans shared stories of their service .
''I love our veterans and thank you for serving our country. Your sacrifice is not forgotten,'' said Minnie Brennan.
About three dozen veterans attended today's event, where they were recognized for their service and sacrifice.
