Westfield, Pennsylvania, recovering after Friday's catastrophic flood
WESTFIELD, PA (WENY) -- Westfield, Pennsylvania, along with surrounding communities in the region, are still reeling from Friday’s catastrophic flash flood.
For those who need relief and supplies, there are two spots in Westfield that provide support. People can stop by the Westfield Municipal Building and the Cowanesque Jr./Sr. High School.
People can acquire canned goods and food, water, cleaning supplies, and talk to others who are in similar situations for emotional support.
Pennsylvania State Representative, Clint Owlett, was on the ground in Westfield to help in any way he could.
“Cleaning supplies are going pretty fast…and food,” Rep. Owlett said. “So, dry goods, typically. Those are two things right now…we're seeing really being taken off the shelves and filling up cars. It was pretty cool yesterday. Literally, you'd have a car dropping off stuff, moving it to another car right behind them…so you have neighbors helping neighbors."
If you want to help those in need, you can drop off food and cleaning supplies to the two locations in Westfield for people in town, Knoxville, and surrounding communities.
Rep. Owlett said officials are urging state lawmakers to come see the damage and get a declaration for immediate help on President Joe Biden’s desk.
