Cayuga Addiction Recovery Services receives $25,000 in state funds
ITHACA, N.Y. (WENY) -- Cayuga Addiction Recovery Services received a $25,000 grant from Sen. Lea Webb in state funds on Monday afternoon. The funding aims to support the center’s efforts to provide those in need with treatment, counseling, and support.
“There’s often a lot of stigma that comes with addressing issues around substance abuse disorders and as a state...as a community...we have a collective responsibility to do all that we can to provide resources,” Sen. Webb said.
Sen. Webb donated the money to C.A.R.S. for improvements to rehabilitation and recovery programs. She added that New York State needs to do better and expand on addiction recovery services.
“We know that mental health services...to be able to address substance abuse disorder...is very needed and we often have some of our smaller, non-profit organizations that have been doing the work for a long time...but need that additional financial support so they can keep funding so they can continue doing the good work,” she said.
CEO and President of Cayuga Health, Martin Stallone, said the funding will improve access to C.A.R.S. through outpatient enhancements.
“With the funds that Senator Webb kindly helped us secure, those with substance abuse disorders will have improved access to services offered by C.A.R.S.,” Stallone said.
Stallone said another reception window will be added to the center to ease waiting room congestion and more Telehealth technology will help boost access to virtual treatment options.
