CAYUTA, N.Y. (WENY) -- Engines were revving this morning as bikers gathered to ride over 100 miles for a good cause. The Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association (CVMA) Chapter 19-10 brought bikers together today to drive all over the Twin Tiers.

The first stop of the day was the Finger Lakes Harley Davidson in Cayuta.

"We're going to ride about 111 miles to our destination which is the Post 8104 VFW in Waverly, New York," said Ben Pousseur, the Chapter Secretary of CVMA NY 19-10. "We're going to have a Bike Night from 3 to 9, we have live music from A Part of Pluto, we have a cornhole tournament, we have basket raffles, auctions, all sorts of stuff going on tonight. So, it's going to be a good event. Hopefully people can come out and enjoy it."

Registration took place from 11:30 A.M. and went to 12:45 P.M. at Harley Davidson. It was only the first part of a long day spent giving back to veterans. Bikers paid $10 and signed their waivers to participate.

While some CVMA members said it's a great way to support and help their fellow veterans, other bikers who are not members also came out to ride and support. Some traveled from all over to come out and ride.

"We support a lot of causes dealing with veterans and things of that nature," said Brian Raymond, a participant in the ride. "These guys right here, the combat vets, absolutely all about supporting them as well. So, we made the trip out here from Binghamton to support them."

A quick safety lesson was given to bikers beforehand and then, at 1:00 P.M., kickstands went up and participants took off. They made one stop along the way at B's Tavern for a raffle before heading to their final stop, the VFW Post 8104 in Waverly.

There, they were met with food, live music, a bike contest, and a cornhole tournament being hosted from 3:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M.

"So, in our times of service we always had each other's back, and we believe that shouldn't end just because our times of service ended," said Pousseur. "We all swore an oath, and we need to be there for each other."

Pousseur called the day a "veterans helping veterans event." All of the funds raised from registration and the post-ride celebration will go right back to local veterans for any help and services they may need. Some members of the CVMA said it can help with anything from housing to mental health services to holiday assistance and more.

The Bike Night is annual and the CVMA Chapter 19-10, VFW Post 8104, and all other organizers are looking forward to doing it all again next year.
