Fire Damages Apartment Home in Bath
UPDATE 7/27 8:30 P.M. -- According to the Bath Volunteer Fire Department, an investigation determined that a charging Lithium battery pack overheated and started the fire. They say there was extensive damage to the apartment.
BATH, NY (WENY) -- Multiple fire crews responded to a fire that broke out in an apartment home in the village of Bath.
Calls for the fire came in just before 10 A.M. on Saturday, at the apartment building at the corner of West Washington and Pine Streets. Authorities on scene said the fire started in an upstairs apartment, and everyone was evacuated safely.
The cause of the fire is under investigation; the Red Cross is providing assistance. The scene was cleared in a little over an hour. No injuries are reported.
The Bath Volunteer Fire Department is expected to release more information on the fire later Saturday.
