Southport Issues Notice of Violation to Cherry Lane Park
SOUTHPORT, N.Y. (WENY) -- Cherry Lane Park in the Town of Southport was a discussion item at a special meeting of the Town Board on Thursday, July 25th. The meeting comes only days after residents were warned on Friday, July 20th that their water would be shut off on Monday, July 23rd; this ultimately did not happen.
"We looked at our code department sending out a notice of violation to the park ownership," said Town Supervisor Joe Roman. "The violation concerns several items which they have five days to reconcile. After that five-day period, the town board will consider with what this next action is."
The board discussed recent issues discovered at the mobile home park which violates its license agreement with the town.
The violation references three different items including:
1) Three condemned trailers that have yet to be demolished
2) No property management
3) Failing to perform a joint review of the property
The notice gives Cherry Lane Park five days to fix the issues received by the park on Thursday, July 25th.
As of the end of July, there are 11 mobile homes on the property, three that were supposed to be removed by June 30th, one vacant, three of which are owned, and four that are rented.
Supervisor Roman says if the Town of Southport revokes the license agreement, then the residents would be given a period to move out of the park and connect with emergency services if needed.
The town board will revisit the violations discussed today Thursday, August 1st at 8 a.m.
