Former Manos Diner Site Could Become Dollar General
ELMIRA HEIGHTS, NY (WENY) -- A former diner could soon be torn down to make way for a brand new Dollar General in Elmira Heights.
The former Manos Diner is on the agenda for the Chemung County Planning Board on July 25th. A Pennsylvania-based developer is requesting site plan approval to demolish the diner and parking lot at 2048 Pennsylvania Avenue. They would then build a 12,000 square foot Dollar General store.
Manos Diner closed in the early 2010's, and later went up for property auction in 2016.
If a Dollar General gets all the necessary approvals and is built, it would be just a half-mile away from another Dollar General on College Avenue, just over the line for the city of Elmira.
