NICHOLS, N.Y. (WENY) -- Tioga Downs Casino's oldest player is celebrating a milestone birthday this month.  To celebrate, she had a party at the casino and marked the occasion with family and playing her favorite, the slots.

"I play the slots, I'm not fast enough for the tables," said Ruth Furman, who turns 105 years old on July 28th.

Furman is a regular at Tioga Downs, and is somewhat of a celebrity at the casino.  At almost 105 years old, she says she spends her time doing what she loves, with the people she loves.

"I spend about every other week here losing my money, hoping to win it but losing some of it," said Furman.  "We have a good time. My cousin brings me and he's very good about it. We enjoy having him. I enjoy having him bring me. I'm glad that he can do it. I'm glad that I can come."

Furman's family came from all over to celebrate the occasion.  They say its a blessing to have her around, and they were thrilled to honor a milestone birthday at Furman's favorite place.

"It's really, really hard to put into words. I mean 105, never expected, but we're thrilled. The whole family's thrilled," said Sharon Rieth, Ruth's daughter.  "She's loved, she's got so many grandkids. She's fun to be around and she's got a terrific sense of humor. So even the grandkids want to be there with her and I think that's part of part of her life and and how she has extended it so is is because she is hanging out with, with the young people."

Furman won in the slots before her party, and her family said she was eager to head back out to head back out to the floor.

"We have to drag her out [of the casino]. She absolutely loves this place. She loves the people and it shows in what they've done for us in this celebration. They really went above and beyond anything we ever ever expected. This is her second home," said Reith.

Furman says she looks forward to keep going to the casino every other week.
