TIOGA, PA (WENY) -- After six days and welcoming thousands of visitors, The Moving Wall has come down at Williamson High School in Tioga, Pennsylvania.

The final visitors spent the last few moments looking at the names on the wall, which is a half-sized traveling replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington, DC. Monday afternoon, volunteers helped to disassemble the wall, which was loaded back on the truck, and will eventually head to its next destination.

While the wall was in Tioga, it helped provide a sense of healing and offered a chance for reflection for Vietnam Veterans in the community.

"It''s really important to see the community come together, I think that's the most important thing for me is, when you look at it. Seeing our [Vietnam] veterans really didn't get a good welcome home, to have a place that they can come, remember, and a chance to be a part of the community," said Jim Webster, a volunteer and member of the Tioga County Moving Wall Committee.

After the Moving Wall was fully disassembled, it received a motorcycle escort out of town.

WENY News and Lilly Broadcasting would like to thank the Twin Tiers community for its support of this important project to honor Vietnam veterans.
