CPD: Corning man arrested for allegedly making child pornography

CORNING, N.Y. (WENY) -- Corning Police announced Thursday that they arrested Ryan Newman, a 33-year-old man from Corning, for allegedly creating child porn and having sex with someone younger than 18.
Newman is charged with Predatory Sexual Assault Against a Child, Criminal Sexual Act, and Sexual Abuse, all felonies.
According to police, they and the FBI received a tip on July 2 that someone was sharing explicit pictures of a child over the internet. Corning Police say their investigation found that Newman allegedly took the pictures in the city.
He is being held in the Steuben County Jail without bail. Police say more charges are expected to be filed soon.
Newman is already a registered sex offender. Police say he was previously convicted of crimes against a juvenile.
