Owego homemade goods business expanding into summertime treats
OWEGO, N.Y. (WENY) -- As the summer continues on and temperatures climb higher and higher -- one Owego business has provided a way for locals and shoppers to cool off in the heat. Today, Scrappy's Workshop on front street unveiled their expansion into the world of Italian Ice.
As the summer heat continues to make itself at home in the Twin Tiers , staying cool is a priority as the season continues. Luckily Scrappy's Workshop in Owego has unveiled Scoopy's at Scrappy's to provide cool treats in addition to their services.
"It's sort of a one stop shop for any home goods, like daily things that you need, like laundry soap, body soap, anything like that. Or, if you're in the market for some new furniture and then enjoy a treat and an evening on the river while you're at it," remarked co-owner Liz Creason.
Scrappy's Workshop in Owego already offers homemade crafts, furniture, and even bulk re-filling services. Now, a new venture into a cool summer treat is adding to the workshop's wide range of services and offerings, and you can enjoy it with a view.
Liz Creason and Patrick Giordano have made it a priority to evolve and diversify the offerings of Scrappy's Workshop, as they already offers eco-friendly and handmade goods to help promote sustainability in their community. Every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, customers can enjoy a refreshing treat while they shop.
"We're really trying to bring community together in town and provide a third space. Somewhere that people can come out, hang out and not necessarily have to spend money, but we offer things that they may want, maybe Italian ice or some bulk fill or a table, perhaps," added Giordano.
The fresh Italian Ice is brought in straight from New York City, and comes in several flavors such as Green Apple, Blue Raspberry, and of course, Strawberry.
Scrappy's Workshop is located at 206 Front Street in Owego and is open seven days a week. The Scoopy's Italian Ice Cart is open from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
