WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (WENY) -- Local Republican Congressman Nick Langworthy announced on Tuesday, June 26th that Watkins Glen is getting millions of dollars in federal funding. The $4.6 million is coming from the Economic Development Administration, and will be matched by local funds.

“Watkins Glen is a vital part of our community, and this substantial investment in its water infrastructure is crucial for our future growth,” said Langworthy in a prepared statement.

According to the EDA, the money is going towards the Village's water storage tank and pump station, replacement of water lines, and other water infrastructure improvements needed to increase water capacity for local businesses. Langworthy said the money will help create or retain 120 local jobs.

“Supporting economic development in rural areas will ensure that small businesses can continue to create jobs while also bolstering the quality of life for hard-working families. I will always fight to ensure that Watkins Glen gets a fair shake and the resources they need to succeed for generations to come,” Langworthy said in a prepared statement.
