Strong winds earlier brought some disruption across parts of our viewing area. There were reports of power outages, downed trees and downed lines in some spots. Winds from the northwest today blew as a high as 45 mph in some areas. Current data suggests that the strongest of the winds are behind us, but we will continue to experience gusts near 25 mph this afternoon. Winds will die down tonight.

The close proximity between an area of high pressure over Canada and low pressure near New England is causing a tight pressure gradient, contributing to strong winds.
