ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- With Mural Fest set to kick off tomorrow, preparations have been made before the artists make their first brush-strokes. Primers have been applied to the mural sites in anticipation of the festivities.

Several locations around the City of Elmira have been prepped for a day of painting and fun at tomorrow's Mural Fest. From Washington Avenue to the South side of the city, murals will be painted for the public to see.

Community Arts of Elmira is sponsoring this year's Mural Fest, where many attractions will be taking place along the Elmira Promenade. The festivities are set to go from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. where there will be a DJ set along with live music, and food trucks will be up and down the promenade from West Second Street to West Water Street.

"Tomorrow the artists will be all in the different locations in which they're going to be creating their artwork. And then our central location will be the promenade," said Community Arts trustee Brent Stermer, "All along the promenade we're going to have different artists interacting with people that come and they can work on traveling panels so they can come and they can actually put brush to board and help us create pieces of artwork that will kind of be able to be around the community. "

Community Arts of Elmira hopes that the murals can help spruce up the areas they'll cover and help attract tourism to the area.
