Man charged with arson after house fire in Erin
UPDATE 4PM (6/21) -- The Chemung County Sheriff's Office announced Friday the homeowner, Timothy Coolbaugh, is charged with third degree Arson.
According to authorities, when deputies responded to the scene of a reported house fire, it was confirmed to be suspicious, with multiple other extinguished fires in and around the home.
New York State Fire Investigators and the Criminal Investigation Division of the Sheriff's Office was called to the scene, and determined the fire was set intentionally, using commonly available combustibles.
Coolbaugh was arraigned in Horseheads Town Court and released, due to New York State bail reform laws.
TOWN OF ERIN, N.Y. (WENY) -- A man was taken into custody Wednesday evening after police said he allegedly set fire to his own home.
This happened shortly after 5 p.m. on Jackson Creek Road in the Town of Erin. The Chemung County Sheriff's Office says they took the man into custody after they found him in the woods.
It is unknown if this man will face any charges.
The Chemung County Sheriff's Office, New York State Police, Town and Country Fire Department, and Breesport Fire Department responded to the scene.
