ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- Mural Fest is set to return this coming weekend on Saturday June 22nd from 11 am to 4 pm. Organizers say the people all around Elmira are getting excited about the great celebration of the city presented through artwork.

In Spring 2023, Elmira's Infinite Campus worked hard on Railroad Avenue to paint stories that represented the Southern Tier city's history.

"It's brought out a lot of people from the community and that's what Elmira is about the, the experiences, our culture and all those different pieces of the community and how they all come together and that's what Mural Fest does," says Brent Stermer, Chemung County Legislator. "It really brings the community together to tell those stories. "

Over the final weeks of Spring  artist have been priming their locations ahead of the many coats of paint that will tell a whole new story like with Lindy Packard's piece about Lake Cuomo.

"We have five principal artists, but then, of course, as always, we have assistants and we have people who are in training, and this year we're really excited because we have more people who are coming forward and they want to participate," says Stermer.
