ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- A new initiative is set to enhance Elmira's environmental sustainability. The Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) of Chemung County is welcoming the Elmira Green Equity (EUGE) project.

The goal of EUGE is to build and strengthen Elmira's resilience against climate change, while also reducing the impact city's environmental impact.

The CCE highlights that Elmira faces greater climate change concerns compared to other communities.

EUGE is funded by a three-year Hazard Mitigation Grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Services, which will support various green infrastructure and community engagement efforts.
