UPDATE 8:00 p.m. (6/12): The Bradford County Department of Public Safety says the vehicle has been removed from the bridge, but the roadway will remain closed due to structural damage.

Emergency officials advise motorists to continue to use the posted detour for an undetermined length of time.


TROY, PA (WENY) -- A portion of Route 6 in Troy, Pennsylvania is closed after a tractor trailer carrying a load hit the bridge overhead structure.

The collision happened late Wednesday morning, on the bridge that carries Route 6 over Sugar Creek. According to PennDOT, Route 6 is closed in both directions between Leona Road and Mud Creek Road in Troy Township. 

A detour is in place, directing travelers on Leona Road, Springfield Road, and State Route 14.

As of 1PM, the truck is still stuck in place, with its load wedged under the bridge canopy. It's unknown when the bridge may reopen.
