Southport Town Board talks Cherry Lane Park
SOUTHPORT, N.Y. (WENY) -- According to the Southport Town Board, Cherry Lane Park LLC has agreed to quarterly inspections performed by the Southport code enforcement. At Tuesday night's meeting, there was a discussion about the timing and completion of those inspections.
The board said Cherry Lane was late on last quarter's inspection, and Cherry Lane Park LLC has yet to make contact about this quarter's inspection.
the inspection is due by the end of the month. Town Supervisor Joseph Roman says the town has sent out correspondence to Cherry Lane Park LLC about the inspection, and is trying to remedy the situation.
"One thing for sure is we'd like code enforcement state to stay on top of the violations and if there are, we'd like them remedied," said Roman. "And then also, as we have done in previous years, you know, when it comes to contract time or agreement time, we'll look at that agreement again and evaluate the situation holistically in terms of what's been accomplished there, what some of the violations have been, and then the town board has to make a consideration of whether or not we want to extend that agreement for another year."
Some neighbors say they feel the town is not doing enough to resolve the issues at Cherry Lane Park.
"How come something hasn't happened," said one neighbor. "I mean its like...they wait for the last minute to do anything. And then they say, ok, we'll let you go. We're just getting really tired of the mess, of everything that's happening there."
No action was taken at Tuesday's meeting. According to the agreement between the Town of Southport and Cherry Lane Park LLC, the company has until the end of the month to remove three condemned trailers from the property.
