Early voting for Chemung County residents in the Primary Election
ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) --The New York State Primary is taking place in two weeks. But depending on where you live, your ballot might look rather short.
For Chemung County residents, you can cast ballots in three primaries this year, starting when early voting kicks off on Saturday, June 15th.
In the Town of Horseheads, a Republican council member position is on the ballot. In the Town of Southport, the Town Justice position is being voted on for a Republican seat, as well as a Conservative seat.
The Republican Deputy Commissioner with the Board of Elections, Marcy Thomas, said it is important for Republicans in the Town of Horseheads and the Town of Southport, as well as Conservatives in the Town of Southport to stop by the Chemung County Board of Elections office and vote this year during early voting.
“In local races, it is very important,” Thomas said. “Every vote counts during these elections...so everyone should come out and vote. It’s their civic duty and it will make our county better.”
There are no Democrats on the ballot for the upcoming election. Early voting starts on June 15 and is taking place until Sunday evening on June 23rd. If you do not want to vote early, the Primary Election is on Tuesday, June 25th.
