Authorities Investigate Shooting at Tops in Waterloo, NY
UPDATE: 6/03/24 4:15 p.m. -- Police arrested a 35-year-old man from Waterloo at the scene of a shooting at Tops on Sunday, June 2nd. Jose Garcia-Vellen has been charged with assault in the first degree, and is being held Seneca County Correctional Facility while he awaits arraignment.
The victim in the shooting has been identified as 47-year-old Antonio Caban Ortiz of Geneva, who police say was shot in the parking lot following an argument. According to police, he is at a Syracuse area hospital where he is still listen in critical condition.

SENECA FALLS, N.Y. (WENY) -- The Town of Seneca Falls Police Department, together with surrounding law enforcement agencies are currently investigating a shooting incident that took place earlier today at the Tops Friendly Market on Route 5/20 in Waterloo, New York.
Authorities say two people have been arrested in connection with the incident. Law enforcement assured the public there was not an ongoing threat.
According to the Seneca Falls Police Department, the incident occurred when an individual with a firearm discharged the weapon outside the grocery store. One person is reported to have been injured and was taken to a hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound.
After a brief closure to guarantee safety, the store reopened as police continued their investigation.
Officials say this was an isolated incident.
