ALBANY, NY (WENY)--TUESDAY IS THE DEADLINE FOR INDEPENDENT CANDIDATES TO SUBMIT THEIR PETITIONS TO THE NEW YORK STATE BOARD OF ELECTIONS to gain ballot access. 

Iindependent AND THIRD-PARTY CANDIDATES IN THE STATE OF NEW YORK MUST COLLECT 45,000 PETITION signatures OF QUALIFIED VOTERS TO GAIN ACCESS TO THE BALLOT AND AT LEAST 500 OF THOSE SIGNATURES MUST BE FROM 13 CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICTS.  
 
WHILE THE SIGNATURES ARE STILL BEING COUNTED, GREEN PARTY presidential CANDIDATE JILL STEIN SAYS SHE HAS MORE THAN ENOUGH TO MEET THE REQUIREMENTS TO GET ON THE BALLOT.  
 
“We’re here basically to declare victory for democracy, for grassroots democracy against an extremely oppressive and anti-democratic system,” said Stein. 
 
SIGNATURES WILL LIKELY BE COUNTED LATE INTO THE EVENING.
