2024 Libertarian National Convention

Four days, presidential candidate nominations, and a dozen speakers— including Robert F. Kennedy AND Donald Trump. The 2024 Libertarian National Convention is looking to attract a crowd in an election year where the independent voter holds the power.
Delegates and party members from across the states are packing into dc this weekend.
“This is the Libertarian’s chance to nominate their presidential candidates and set our leadership for the next two years,” said Greg Deal, Chair of the Pennsylvania Libertarian Party.
In 2020, the party's presidential candidate walked away with 1.2% of the popular vote- not competitive, but unified enough to make an impact as national elections have more narrow margins.
“You have more options than just the two party system,” said Deal.
In 2024, the Libertarian speakers say they need to solidify their public image; As for the first time in decades, a third party candidate is consistently in mainstream headlines.
“I think it’s going to hit home with RFK Jr.,” said Deal. "I’m not sure that he’s going to break 10%, but he’s going to shake up things quite a bit in there. And hopefully people start to see that they have more options.”
For Deal, whoever ends up the Libertarian presidential nominee has to know how to get the party’s platform in front of the public eye- like their stance on the economy.
“We like to often say we don’t have money for it we shouldn’t pay for it."
abortion,
“Pro getting the government out of abortion. Let people make their own individual rights. At the worse it should be a state’s right."
And other policy debates.
“We are the only party that truly believes and fights for all individual rights. So you obviously have some on the left and some on the right that fight for very specific individual rights. 2nd amendment, or abortion, or something like that. We fight for it all basically saying the government should not be involved in your personal life.”
