Transformation of Clemens Square in Downtown Elmira begins with Centertown Social Club
ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- The transformation of Downtown Elmira's Clemens Square has officially begun with the build-out of Centertown Social Club. This project marks the first step in a series of developments Capriotti Properties is using to revitalize the area.
Centertown Social Club will feature artwork designed by local artist Lindy Packard and interior finishes designed and applied by Community Arts of Elmira. This development is only the start of several upcoming projects looking to transform Clemens Square.
Other planned development projects include a new Italian Deli and Bakery offering ready-to-go sandwiches and pastries. A commercial kitchen and food court is also behind the former Iszard's building. This spot will offer kiosk-style vendors with a variety of traditional and ethnic foods. Furthermore, a Tapas-style restaurant with an adjacent juice bar in the former Clemens Square Diester and Butler building. Lastly, Centertown Social, a brewery-style bar and restaurant with gaming areas, golf simulators, a rooftop deck, and an outdoor stage area.
Elmira Works Coworking Space will continue its normal operations which has been giving Clemens Square an upbeat atmosphere.
The project also includes an agreement with the city for ongoing maintenance, cleanup, and entertainment offers through Centertown Social.
Just when you thought the downtown area was transformed, there are more including 20 condominiums. These will be built on the upper floors of the former Iszard's Building.
The transformation and revitalization hope to give Clemens Square a new and exciting entertainment hub located next to the Clemens Center and less than three blocks away from First Arena.
The project has not released an exact timeframe on when these projects will be finished and open to the public. Clemens Square is located behind the 100 West Water St. apartments and next to Elmira's New York Sport and Fitness Club.
