CORNING, N.Y (WENY) -- On Friday, the New York State Department of Transportation will close a part of Interstate 86 Westbound in Steuben County and some ramps connecting I-86 to Interstate 99 to replace signs.

I-86 West will be closed between Exit 45 in Downtown Corning and Exit 43 in Painted Post at 10 p.m. Friday. The roadway is expected to reopen by Saturday morning. The ramps connecting I-86 West with I-99 will also be closed during this time frame.

Detours will be posted for drivers while crews work, according to the Steuben County Sheriff's Office.

On Sunday, road crews will close the Bridge Street bridge in Corning from 4 a.m. to 11 a.m. to prepare the roadway to withstand potential flooding in the future, the city announced. Corning's Public Works Department and the Department of Environmental Conservation will be installing temporary flood control devices on the bridge.

Starting Monday, New York DOT will be repairing the bridge joints on State Route 352 over Interstate 86 in Riverside. Work will not be finished on the bridge until June. According to the Steuben County Sheriff's Office, the bridge and ramps to get onto I-86 will be closed nightly while crews work, between 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. 

The roadways will be open during the daytime hours.
