Bradford County man guilty of child sex charges after retrial
BRADFORD COUNTY, PA (WENY) -- A 34-year-old man from Towanda was found guilty of child sex charges against multiple children on Wednesday, April 3rd. This was the second time Jonathan Rivera was found guilty, but his original conviction back in 2019 was tossed in 2023 on a legal technicality.
After his conviction was tossed, Rivera had posted bail and was released after spending four years in prison. Following this most recent conviction, the judge in the case revoked bail.
According to the Bradford County District Attorney, a jury needed less than one hour before Rivera was found guilty. The DA said that between 2009 to 2018, Rivera sexually abused four young girls across Pennsylvania.
As a result, Rivera was found guilty of six felonies, including endangering the welfare of a child, two counts of indecent assault and three counts of corruption of minors. On top of that Rivera was also convicted of five misdemeanors.
Rivera is currently in the Bradford County Correctional Facility where he will await a sentencing hearing on August 15th.
