Market St. Restoration Agency launches grant to improve Gaffer Dist. storefronts
CORNING, N.Y. (WENY) -- On Monday, The Market Street Restoration Agency announced a $150,000 grant program to beautify and preserve historic storefronts in Corning's Gaffer District.
The money would go towards "restoring and preserving the unique historical character of Corning's Gaffer District," according to a press release sent to WENY News.
The $150,000 will be split up between eight projects within the district. Five projects will receive $10,000 each, two projects will get $25,000 in funding while one project will grant one recipient $50,000 for substantial storefront improvements.
In order to be eligible for the grant, businesses must be located in the Gaffer District, which runs down Market St. in Corning from Wall St. to Walnut St. Click here to apply for the grant. Interested business owners must apply with detailed project proposals before April 30.
Projects who receive funding must be completed before the end of the year.
