Able 2 employee arrested for allegedly stealing from a client
HORSEHEADS, N.Y. (WENY) -- A 34-year-old woman from Wellsburg was arrested for grand larceny after police say she stole almost $10,000 from a clients of a Horseheads organization she worked for that is dedicated to helping people with developmental disabilities. According to the Chemung County Sheriff's Office, Amanda Potter stole $9,842.25 from a client of Able 2 in Horseheads between October, 2023 to March, 2024.
Police say Potter used the client's debit card by removing it from the Able 2 safe, and then on multiple occasions withdrawing hundreds of dollars at a time. Police say Able 2 discovered the unauthorized transactions, and reported it to police.
Potter was issued an appearance ticket and released.
According to the Able 2 website, the organization exists to serve and protect people with developmental disabilities, "by creating opportunities for them to live their best life and be contributors to the community."
