Chemung County Sheriff Investigator hurt in hit-and-run near Target in Big Flats

UPDATE: 11:30 p.m.: According to the WENY News reporter still on the scene, while the police presence has quieted down, there are still a lot of officers in the area on foot. Still no word as to the condition of the injured Investigator.
UPDATE 9:40 P.M.: New York State Police have investigated the situation actively. A WENY News reporter on the scene saw authorities with the Schuyler Co. Sheriff's Office and Corning Police Dept.
UPDATE 9:30 P.M.: A WENY reporter on the scene says cars were allowed to leave the Lowes parking lot but authorities were seen inspecting all cars with a flashlight. Police have a helicopter and drone in the air.
BIG FLATS, N.Y. (WENY) -- On Friday night, around 7 pm, an investigator with the Chemung County Sheriff's Office was hit by a vehicle near the Target in Big Flats
Chemung County Sheriff Bill Schrom told WENY News "Our guys were working on a retail theft detail with the New York State Police and one of our investigators was struck and seriously injured by a vehicle."
Schrom also told WENY News they're still looking for the person in the area of Arnot Mall.
"There's a lot of units up there looking for the person that was operating the vehicle and our guys being airlifted down to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre," says Sheriff Schrom.
