Wegmans Stores to Close for 30 Minutes for Eclipse Viewing
ROCHESTER, NY (WENY) -- Wegmans announced Thursday that it will be temporarily closing 48 of its stores on April 8th, to allow its employees to view the total solar eclipse.
The path of totality of the April 8th eclipse will pass over the region between 3:00 and 3:30PM. During that time, Wegmans will close its doors, to give workers the opportunity to go outside and see the astronomical event.
"The opportunity to experience a total solar eclipse comes once in a lifetime, and we don't want our employees to miss out,” said Patrick Bourcy, Wegmans regional manager. “We appreciate all that our employees do to help our customers prepare for and enjoy events like this, and in return, we welcome the opportunity to make this a celebratory and memorable occasion for them."
