Woodlawn Cemetery in Elmira announces Spring clean-up dates

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- The Woodlawn Cemetery in Elmira has announced that Spring clean-up is set to kick off on March 15th this year. The goal for is for everything to be taken care of by March 25th.
That means removing decorations, flags, rocks, fencing, faded or unkept decorations or any loose objects that are non-Spring. That includes broken or faded American flags.
Things that are allowed include up to two solar lights, two shepherd hooks. stone and stone and monument saddles in good condition and fresh or good condition natural or artificial flowers.
As a courtesy, if there is any concern about removing a tribute, you can call the Woodlawn Cemetery at 607-732-0151 to discuss further. The Cemetery is also cautioning that it is probably better to wait to put new decorations on May 1st.
