HORSEHEADS, N.Y. (WENY) -- Meet Radar, WENY’s Pet of the Week from the Horseheads Community Animal Shelter!

Radar is about 1 years old and is believed to be a German Shepherd and Cattle dog mix, however the shelter is not positive on his exact breed. He came to the shelter underweight, so his handlers are trying their best to feed him more to gain more weight.

“He is a bit skinny,” says Mojave Moffett, a handler at the shelter adding, “so we are trying to put some meat on his bones and give him tons of treats and all that. He seems to get a lot of comfort from the other dogs and really seems really curious about playing with them and hanging out with them.”

Moffett recommends feeding him multiple times a day while mixing wet food into his dry food and spoiling him with treats.

Families interested in Radar should know that while he gets along with other dogs, he does not get along with cats.

He also appears to have fully grown physically, but because of how young he is, he's filled with puppy energy.

“He might have a ton of puppy energy, at least for a while, especially as he gets used to a new home where it's new and exciting.”

Radar is up to date with vaccines, and all is expected to get neutered prior to his adoption.

Moffett says the shelter is doing well in supplies, but that treats are always welcomed for donations as they run out fast.
